OnePlus is all set to release their Folding Phones in 2023
The first OnePlus foldable phone may be a rebranded Oppo Find N.
For some time now, there have been rumours floating around regarding a foldable phone from OnePlus in a market dominated by the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4.
In 2020, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau told reporters that the business had no immediate plans to produce a foldable phone.
Two years is a long time for technology to advance (and plans to change), but now Lau is posting pictures of what seems to be the intricate hinge assembly of a folding phone, which may be a hint that development of a foldable OnePlus phone is already well under way.
Xiaomi unveiled the Mix Fold 2 earlier this month, and Lenovo unveiled the Moto Razr 2022 with a clamshell design.
Even while both phones are now only accessible in China, they demonstrate those firms’ definite interest in a share of the foldable smartphone market.
The Oppo Find N and the Vivo X Fold were two attempts by the BBK Group to go on board, but OnePlus remained absent — perhaps until now.
Instead of a clamshell design like the Moto Razr or Z Flip 4, OnePlus may be working on a taller booklet-style folding phone, judging by the length of the hinge.
A close-up of the hinge exposes two axes of rotation, multiple mounting posts, holes for fasteners, and six tiny springs to tension the assembly. The hinge is made of metal.
The photographs might be regarded as validating a rumour from April that stated the first OnePlus foldable will resemble the Oppo Find N, even if Lau’s tweet makes no mention of a name for the device (to say nothing of what type of technical specs we might look forward to).
Given that both BBK-owned companies basically share an R&D department, hardware, and some software components, that didn’t come as much of a surprise.
According to reports, OnePlus may reveal its folding phone to the public in 2023.
The OnePlus Foldable Phone is anticipated to weigh around 271 grammes and have a 7.6-inch screen.
This smartphone will be powered by Android 11, One UI 3.5, and come with a respectable 1768 x 2208 pixel resolution.
The OnePlus Foldable Phone has an Octa-core (1×2.84 GHz Kryo 680 & 3×2.42 GHz Kryo 680 & 4×1.80 GHz Kryo 680) CPU and an Adreno 660 GPU. It is powered by a Qualcomm SM8350 Snapdragon 888 5G (5 nm) processor.
This model is expected to have a front camera that is 16 MP (f/1.8) + 10 MP and a back camera that is 12 MP (f/1.6 wide) + 12 MP (f/2.2 telephoto) + 12 MP (f/2.4 ultrawide).
Additional camera functions include panorama, HDR, and LED flash.
This model’s connectivity features will include Face Unlock, Fingerprint Sensor, 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G, as well as Call Records, External Storage, Messaging, Phonebook, Audio Player, Games, Speakers, and Video Player.
The OnePlus Foldable Phone has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, an accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, compass, and barometer.
